Are you smarter than a fifth grader?

I don't think I would have picked these questions. But I like the idea -- WebMD.com has developed a health-related version of the TV show. Take the test (you have to write down your answers on a piece of paper before scrolling down) and then let us know which answers stumped you!

I got about half the questions on this quiz correct, but the one question i noticed almost immediately was the strep throat question which we discussed in lecture recently. I was also very curious about the million dollar question because I'd like to know how it would cause a 26 pound gain. Other than that, most of the questions were fairly understandable and was a matter of book knowledge. The quiz was very interesting and reminded me of a couple typical health facts and well as teach me a couple new things that I didn't know.

Thats something i saw online that showed about how many calories it takes to gain a pound and other things about weight gain. I guess following the opposite of this would help someone lose weight.

I missed 3 questions: #2, #7, #11. Number 2 required you to know what bicuspids are. Number 7 required you to know that calcium and magnesium are importants minerals found in dairy products for bone health. Number 11 was the most difficult.

If you eat just one candy bar a day in excess of your calorie needs, in a year you will put on:
15 pounds
26 pounds
52 pounds

I have no idea how you would figure that out but it sounds interesting.

Overall the questions were fairly simple. Facts that arent used on a daily basis. I havent seen the show but it sounds interesting. Heres some info on the show

Before I first took this quiz, I heard of the show and saw commercials on it on television. I thought that this show was just one of those useless shows that producers create to make money. So, when I took the quiz, I noticed that some of the questions were quite difficult to answer. I got 3 questions wrong: questions 7, 10, and 11. I thought the million dollar question was quite interesting and I would have never been able to guess the answer. These questions are reasonable and really tests whether I knew 5th grade health or not. So from taking the quiz, I can see why this show can be an interesting one to watch and play along.

I got 8 out of the 10 questions right. The ones that fooled me were: the strep throat question, I had no idea that if it isn't treated it can cause permanent heart damage. wow. Also, the dairy group question, I put calcium and magnesium instead of the correct answer of calcium and phosphorous. It seems like that would be a pretty interesting show to watch either that or it would just make me feel bad to see kids getting more questions right. I think it is a good idea, better than most shows these days. Atleast you can learn something watching it.

I'll be the first to post up the worst score. I'll just go ahead and crawl up in a fetal position and rethink my life. I got a 4, just terrible. One of the few questions I was able to respond to was the one we went over in class in reference to strep throat. The question that threw me off was the one about the four types of teeth, how was I suppose to know that the biscuspids are a teeth type and also the name to the valve in the heart, really? Anyway I went ahead and researched the four teeth types :http://www.bracesinfo.com/glossary.html Atleast now ill be aware that somethings can be named the same.

I only got 6 correct. I missed numbers 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9. Notice how i got the question about strep throat correct? we just learned it a couple days ago!! :]

I had no idea that diabetes could lead to kidney disease, heart disease, and blindness though. Now I'm really worried about my uncle and one of my closest friends. ahh.

Anyways. I love the actual show. It makes me laugh. <33

After taking the quiz, I missed three out of the 11 questions. I got stumped on numbers 2, 3 and the million dollar question. On question 2, I chose major incisors because I thought bicuspids were relating to the left AV valve and I knew wisdom teeth wasn't the answer. On question three, I completely guessed 80 but at least now I know it's at 85 decibels. The million dollar question was random and I was wondering how we were supposed to know that eating a candy bar a day after calorie intake would increase 26 lbs. After looking around the internet about eating a candy bar a day, I found a website that says eating a candy bar a day can actually help boost the performance of the brain, especially Milk chocolate.

Wow! I don't think fifth graders are that smart. I don't remember learning that stuff in fifth grade. I got 6 out of 11. I guessed on the million dollar question and got it right. I have yet to watch the show, but reading this article has gotten me really interested in the show. I got the strep throat question because we talked about it. I bet a lot of adults don't know the answers to the questions. I thought the teeth question was weird because it mentioned bicuspids. I thought that had to be wrong because it goes with the heart. Nope! I did ok on the science questions. I knew the diabetes one cause I have a friend who has diabetes. I got the dairy product question right. It seems like all these new quiz shows are rip offs of who wants to be a milionare. This one seems funny and watchable.
I found a website that gives kid iq test. I did pretty well. They have some hard questions. I wouldn't do too well if I was younger.

I got 7 questions correct, but after the save, that makes 8 correct. The questions that I missed were # 3, 4, 7, and 11. I’m not sure but I probably learned about the decibel question, I just forgot about it. The strep throat question also took me by surprise when I saw the answer. I never knew that it could cause heart damage. The calcium and magnesium was pretty hard too. I don’t even know why there was a question like number 11. That question seems more of a mathematical problem than a science related question. The reason why this show is challenging for adults is because the fifth graders learned these materials recently and it’s fresh in their minds, while the adults have lost that part of the memory making it more difficult for them to remember. It doesn’t mean that fifth graders are smarter than adults, it’s because it’s harder for adults to retrieve things that they have thrown away a long time ago.
